One of the greatest cities in Australia is the capital city of Canberra where the tourist industry is really looking after its holiday makers. There is so much to do in such a small space but often you are left with not enough time to see it all. The war memorial museums is one of my all time favorite places where interactive learning gets you involved with what happened during the war times. The art gallery is one of the finest in Australia too and is full of not only Australian masterpieces but fine artworks from all around the world.

Canberra is built on aboriginal tribal lands where you can greet the native Australians and have them tell you the stories of their dream time. In a colorful display of dancing and song they make their history come to life around a camp fire. The Canberra night live has become very popular with elegant and heart racing clubs and pubs in each corner of the city. You can see the sights both day and night with in Canberra and choose which one you prefer you like and make the most of both worlds.

It was a once in a lifetime experience for me even though I know I was free to travel to Canberra anytime I liked. The fact was that although Canberra was a great city to visit it really was only for a holiday so traveling there often was not really on the cards. My favorite part of Canberra was the War Memorial Museum where many of the armed forces had displays of old and new. There was a wall of remembrance that was very long and high which was an eye opener to how many men and women died during the war times in many different wars.

The best display for me personally was a coin toss between two displays. The first display that I liked the most was one of a mini Japanese submarine that was found right inside Sydney harbor that had a narrative story telling how it was found and what it had gone through to get there. The other display was off one of the Australian light tanks that was blasted in a battle and had a huge hole in the side. There was also a good story that went with this display too.

Traveling through Canberra was made easy for the family and I because we hired a car from the car hire Canberra airport agents who provided us with a late model Ford Falcon. The car ran as smoothly as the holiday and we had no problems during our travels in Canberra.
